In June of 2014, Councilmember Tom LaBonge of the Cit of Los Angeles led an official delegation from Los Angeles to its Sister City of Bordeaux, France to take part in the 50 year anniversary celebrations. At this time, Councilmember LaBonge and the Mayor of Bordeaux, Allen Juppé opened the official year long cultural exchange program showcasing numerous events in both cities to mark this milestone anniversary. Los Angeles was also City of Honour at the Bordeaux Fête le Vin 2014.
